Ive reached the point in assignments, i now have allocated time to do the work.... im doing everything BUT the work. SOOOO i decided starting a random tv show would be a good idea.
I was tired after the holiday, hermitting on the sofa, too lazy to go socialize and avoiding assignments like the plague, so i ventured into sky movies on demand, nothing new there (turns out anything id be interested in watching....ive already been there done that) problems with reading and watching so much....you run out of material quickly, of course when it rains it pours, but in this particular moment it was a serious drought that i nearly had to do uni work to avoid. but but but then i found Once upon a time.
Reasons behind never watching it before? it wasnt overly advertised when it started and by the time id really heard much about it, it was already season 2 or 3 i think.
and lets keep in mind (not trying to be an annoying hipster or anything BUT) its common knowledge i dont like shows/music/anything when too many people like it, in fact that usually makes me hate it, until of course the point its out of fashion, everyone is sick of it, and in that second, i will instantly become its biggest fan
so yes, its rare i will actually keep myself up to date with anything, the vast majority of my peers are probably, watching, reading or listening to.
Anyways, bored and decided, lets give it a shot!
-please note im now on season two sooooo this isnt overly detailed-
initial reaction, slow but by the end of the episode i mustve been interested because one episode lead to another, and between all the world cup matches, to the complete and utter dismay of my entire household that had to endure my new addiction, i vegged out and went through not just one season but two (telling myself id start assignments at the finale)
The only reason i havent made my way onto season three (yet) is i had to come back to derry to move out :(
i know, how time flies.
takes forever to get fully settled and truely love a wee place, but by that stage its the end of the year and its time to move back home for summer, or in my case for summer then placement year, otherwise id just stay put.
So Once upon a time is basically fairytale characters (not all your standard drop dead gorgeous actors, but if they arent gorgeous theyre funny.....or i pay little to no attention to them) under a curse, and sent to a horrible magicless land that is just the evil queens version of torture..... otherwise known as earth.
always good to know we're considered someone elses version of hell/cursed
long story short its a decent show, my brothers and one of my sisters absolutely hate it, yet it seems popular amoung others so idk maybe its whatever floats your boat, after all i wasnt for watching it either, but drastic times call for drastic measures.
dont get me wrong, theres loads of useless dramatic looks and dialogue-less minutes that i just skip through (all hail the fast forward button)
i think what i love about the show isnt just the fairytale flashbacks of each character, normally when something happens it opens up another wee piece of the puzzle or a new character is introduced and the story progresses towards breaking the curse, which leads to stopping a worse villian then a worse one that somehow the first villian knew about but that information mustve seemed irrlevent for the last two seasons.
what i love most is the fairytales arent exactly how they are told.
yes beauty does fall in love with a beast
yes the queen does want tovkill snow white
yes jack did kill a few giants
BUT
you have to watch it to realise, thats all taken out of context.
i also find it funny how they squish two or more fairytales into the one.
like lesser fairytales that maybe wouldnt have been interesting on their own are put together to create the back story for a main character out of a bigger fairytale, prince charming was apart of at least three lesser fairytales that i can think off.
oh and my favourite character rumplestilkin, you will find very early in the show is basically intertwined with just about every fairytale.
i think thats all i can really say SO FAR, mainly because i dont want to spoil it on you all and i dont know how the shows going to turn out, ill watch season three (even though ive heard a few spoilers and am a bit put off it already) and if that goes well ill catch up with season four in autumn.
ill probably do a post entirely to season 3 when i watch it this week (so spoiler alert there) but yeah sorry i havent any proper recommendations atm. its just not summer for me yet and im not in the mood to know and remember and review all the amazing tv shows.
if you guys think of any shows youd think id like, give me a shout, i love to hear from yous.
thats definitely not me just trying to avoid assignments or anything
